Usti Talutsa (Little Basket)

Colleen Pfefferle is also called Usti Talutsa meaning Little Basket. Her heritage is Choctaw, Cherokee, and Blackfoot Native American tribes. Colleen is an accomplished artist, art educator and student teacher advisor. She has taught art for K-12 students, as well as at the collegiate level. Colleen has also worked to develop and implement a unique curriculum for 3rd graders throughout Ohio to teach the philosophy of Native American Culture through song and dance.

Colleen has worked on several national committees such as the Ohio State-based Collaborative Initiative Partners in Education; the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, Washington, DC; The VSA Art Institute; and the Ohio Arts Integration Partners Institute. She has also volunteered for Head Start for the Creek Nation East of the Mississippi.

​Colleen has been featured in several national art galleries including: The Heard Museum Guild, Phoenix, AR; Red Cloud Native American Art Gallery, St. Petersburg, Fl; Women in Arts Exhibition, New Haven, CT; Turtle Island Native American Gallery, New Haven, CT and others.
